Cassona Global Imaging Company Ltd., an export trading company (ETC) specialising in diagnostic imagery field health equipment, has outlined plans to train local engineering students with hands-on skills in medical equipment repairs.
With the overwhelming numbers of breakdown medical equipment in almost every health facility across the country without engineering expertise to fix them, the leading provider of medical equipment and solutions is set to provide a long-lasting solution.
Recognising the increasing demand for qualified technicians in the medical equipment industry, Cassona Global has partnered with manufacturers of the various devices it deals in to invest in the training and development of local talent to provide engineering support and after-services to health institutions.
Chief Executive Officer – Cassona Global Imaging, John Chigbu, stated that his outfit would provide comprehensive practical hands-on training. Students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment, workshops and industry experts who will guide and mentor them throughout the training programme.
"Through our collaborations with manufacturers, we will equip selected students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in repairing and maintaining medical equipment, ultimately benefitting the healthcare community.
"What used to happen is that companies come here to sell very expensive medical equipment to us and leave while health institutions also go abroad to buy some for use. A few months and years down the line, the equipment breaks down and it becomes a white elephant because of unavailable expertise to fix it," he said.
The CEO went on further to state: "We are doing something that has a lot of ramifications. What we are getting here now, is actual manufacturing companies coming here to change the medical landscape. It even costs more to maintain this equipment so we ensure that our local engineers are trained both locally and abroad", he said.
Mr. Chigbu highlighted that by the end of this year, about 12 Biological Engineers (Bioengineers) would be trained both in the country and abroad in the manufacturing plants of some of the manufacturers to be all-rounded. In addition, continuous training would be ensured for constant upgrades with innovations, among others.
By bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, Cassona Global Ltd. intends to empower the next generation of engineers, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute significantly to the medical equipment repair industry.
Cassona also reiterated its partnership plans with various local universities to provide specialised hands-on training to aspiring medical students.
Boasting some of the best medical types of equipment in the country, it believes in providing medical students with this opportunity to have practical experience with most of the equipment they haven't seen before.
"By investing in their education and skills development, we aim to address the growing need for qualified technicians in the medical equipment industry," Chigbu said.
