Cassona Global Imaging, a leading distributor of advanced medical imaging technology in Africa, in partnership with Mindray, a global provider of medical imaging solutions, has empowered students reading Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology and Science Laboratory Technology with specialised training.
The training, moderated by Minilik Mengistu of Mindray, MR (Medical Radiology Professional) and Clinical Application Specialist focused on radiology and advanced features of medical imaging equipment.
Enhancing Student Knowledge and Skills
The training aimed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform scanning and imaging procedures effectively.
By introducing students to the latest technology and advancements in medical imaging, Cassona Global and Mindray is helping to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Gladys Tetteh, Sales Representative at Cassona Global, emphasised the importance of capacity building and training in the healthcare sector.
"We're not just into selling equipment; we're into developing the capacity of the people who use the equipment in our hospitals," she said. "We believe that when they are well-trained, they will be able to deliver excellence and detect diseases at an early stage."
Practical Training for Students
The training workshop, which included practical sessions using a pregnant woman as a model, provided students with hands-on experience in using ultrasound machines. This approach enables students to gain valuable experience and build their expertise while still in school.
Miss Tetteh highlighted Cassona Global's commitment to developing the capacity of healthcare professionals, particularly in the use of medical imaging equipment.

"We believe that when we start with people who are still learning, it's easier for them to pick up new skills and technologies," she said.
"By the time they graduate, they will have become experienced professionals in their field", she added.
Collaboration and Innovation
Prof. Nana Yaw Asabere, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Accra Technical University, emphasised the importance of collaboration with industry partners during the Cassona Global Imaging Training Programme at the school campus.
"Having industry partners like Cassona Global Imaging come to our campus to provide training and share their expertise with our students is invaluable," he said.
"It gives our students a glimpse into what happens in the industry and helps them develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen profession."
Hands-on Programmes and Industry Collaboration
The university focuses on hands-on programmes, particularly in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, which comprises four departments. This includes Laboratory Technology and Medical Laboratory Technology, designed to equip students with practical skills and knowledge that are relevant to the industry.
Prof. Asabere noted that the university's collaboration with Cassona Global Imaging would help to bridge the gap between academia and industry. "Our students will benefit greatly from this partnership, and we are excited to see the impact it will have on their learning experience and future careers," he said.
Building a Stronger Future
The partnership between Accra Technical University and Cassona Global Imaging is a testament to the university's commitment to providing high-quality education and training to its students. By working together, the university and industry partners can build a stronger future for Ghana and the African continent.
As Prof. Asabere concluded, "We are proud to be part of this initiative, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with Cassona Global Imaging to produce highly skilled and knowledgeable graduates who can make a positive impact in their chosen fields."
Through this partnership, Cassona Global and Mindray are empowering the next generation of medical imaging professionals with the knowledge, skills, and technology they need to succeed in their field. By investing in the development of healthcare professionals, the companies are helping to improve patient care and outcomes in the region.
